The short version
Our games never ask who you are. We have no accounts, no email addresses and no passwords of our own, and you can play everything without signing in to anything. Your progress saves on your own device.
If you play a game with a leaderboard, we store a random ID, your score, and whatever name you chose to type. That's it.
If you're signed in to the game site itself — Poki and CrazyGames both have their own accounts — that site may back your progress up to your account and sync it between your devices. That's the portal's feature, under the portal's privacy policy, not ours.
The ads are served by the game site too, not by us. Their policy covers those.
Who we are
Gaming Life is the game studio of Ymedia Ventures BV, a company registered in the Netherlands. Ymedia Ventures BV is the data controller for anything described on this page.
Questions, requests, or complaints: hello@gaminglife.com. A person reads it.
What our games store
There are three different places data can sit when you play one of our games, and they are worth separating because we control only one of them.
1. On your device (always)
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your game progress — score, unlocks, settings, which level you're on | So you can close the tab and come back to where you were |
| A random ID generated by your browser | So your progress can be matched back to you if leaderboards are switched on |
| Whether you muted the sound | So it stays muted |
This lives in your browser's local storage. It is not a tracking cookie, it is not used for advertising, and we cannot read it remotely. Clearing your browser data deletes it.
One important exception. If you're signed in to a game portal that offers cloud saves — Poki does this — that portal's own software reads this storage and copies it to your portal account, so your progress follows you between devices. This happens automatically as a feature of the portal, not something our game switches on, and the copy held there is governed by the portal's privacy policy. It means that clearing your browser data removes the copy on your device but not the copy on your portal account; to remove that one you'd go through the portal.
2. On our server (only if a game has a leaderboard)
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| The random ID your browser generated | To keep your scores together without knowing who you are |
| A display name, if you typed one | To show next to your score on the leaderboard |
| Scores, best result, number of runs, current level | To build the leaderboard and to restore progress on another device |
| Which game it came from, and the date | Because one server serves several games |
The display name is public. It appears on a leaderboard other players can see, so please don't type a real full name, a school, or anything you wouldn't put on a poster. We'll remove names that are offensive or that clearly identify a child.
We do not store your email, your IP address alongside your scores, your age, your location, or anything that tells us who you are. We could not identify you from what we hold, and we don't try to.
3. By the site you're playing on (Poki, CrazyGames and similar)
Our games are published on game portals — mainly Poki. Those portals show the ads, run their own analytics on their own pages, and offer their own user accounts. When you play there, that portal is a separate data controller and its privacy policy applies, not ours. We don't receive advertising data from them and we can't see what they collect.
Portal accounts are optional and are not ours. Signing in to Poki or CrazyGames is a decision you make with them, not with us. You never need one to play our games. If you are signed in, the portal may sync your saved progress to your account as described above.
If a game of ours ever uses a portal account, it will only be to show the name and avatar you already chose on that portal, and to keep your progress and leaderboard entry attached to it. We would receive a username, an avatar image address, and an identifier for you on that portal — never an email address, a password, a date of birth, or any way to contact you. This page will say so explicitly, and the date at the top will change, before any game of ours does that.
Privacy policies worth reading, and more important than this one if you're a parent deciding whether a game is fine for your kid — they cover the advertising and the accounts, which is where the actual tracking is:
What we never do
- No accounts, logins, emails or passwords of ours — and you can always play without signing in to anything at all.
- No advertising or tracking cookies of our own.
- No analytics of our own — no Google Analytics, no third-party SDKs beyond the portal's.
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone. There's nothing to sell.
- No asking for your age, your location, or your real name.
- No in-app purchases, so no payment details, ever.
Children
Our games are made for a young audience, and that shapes the design as well as the data handling. We follow the UK Children's Code (the Age-Appropriate Design Code) and the equivalent principles under the GDPR, which means among other things:
- Nothing in a game expires, counts down, or can be lost to pressure a quick decision.
- Rewards are always a bonus, never something taken away.
- Missing a day is never framed as a failure.
- Ads are only shown at a natural break or when a player chooses to watch one.
- We collect the minimum possible, which turns out to be almost nothing.
If you're a parent and you'd like the leaderboard entry associated with your child's device removed, email us and we'll do it — see below for what we need.
Why we're allowed to store it (legal basis)
For the leaderboard data we rely on legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: running a leaderboard is a core part of the game, the data is minimal and pseudonymous, the player chooses whether to submit a name, and there is no profiling or advertising use. Data stored on your own device is there to make the game work at all.
How long we keep it
- On your device: until you clear your browser data.
- Leaderboard scores: up to 24 months, after which old low-ranking entries are deleted.
- Player records: deleted after 24 months of no play.
- A copy synced to your portal account: kept by that portal under its own retention rules, which we don't control.
Where it's stored
On servers in the European Union. Nothing is transferred outside the EEA by us. What a game portal does with its own data is covered by its policy.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to us holding it. Because we deliberately don't know who you are, we need one thing from you to act on a request: the random player ID from the device in question. In most of our games you can find it in the game's settings or credits screen.
If you can't find it, the fastest option is to clear the site data in your browser — that deletes everything on your device, and the server record expires on its own. If you're signed in to a game portal that synced a copy of your save, you'll need to remove that through the portal as well; we have no access to it.
Email hello@gaminglife.com and we'll act within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If we ever want to collect something new, this page changes before the game does, and the date at the top changes with it.
